When I’m not traveling, I’m usually yearning about travel – I bury my head in travel magazines, scour picturesque travel photos on Instagram, and write copious notes about my next travel destinations. I suppose I’m a true gypsy at heart. When I’m feeling the travel bug, I’ve learnt to look a little closer to home to feed me with that exhilarating thrill of discovering something new. After all, a staycation can be just as rewarding as a vacation. With such sprawling and diverse scenes, LA is one of the best cities to keep me on my toes. A half hour drive North, South, East or West transports me to an altogether different backdrop with something cool and exciting around every corner.
In full exploratory-mode this past weekend, I popped on my laid-back Mexican peasant dress and comfy sneaks (because donning a vacation-esque outfit always gets me in the mood), and strolled the familiar streets of Venice, only to discover some cool, secluded spots I’d never really noticed before. It’s amazing what opening your eyes to what’s on your doorstep can do! Aside from my Venice favorites (see here for full list), here’s my guide to 5 Venice spots that I’m loving right now.
This cute blue and white airy beach house, holds some of my favorite cali-style brands, including new designers, vintage finds, and my favorite globetrotter suitcases. The layout and décor is beautifully put together with colorful, eclectic floor-tiles, an outdoor hammock, and my favorite part – racks of white lace and crochet dresses…definitely my kinda store.
I swoon over the neutral palette of silk camisoles and dresses every time I step in here. Delicate and pretty collection of contemporary clothing, loungewear, cocktail dresses, lingerie and nightdresses.
Coffee & Snack:
Lazy weekends were made for sipping a café con leche and munching on freshly baked goodies at this artisanal bakery/deli, housed in a cool warhouselike space.
Finally Blue Bottle Coffee has come to the westside. It’s small, chic, industrial, and cool, and I’m sure you’ll make best friends with the barista.
This sleek, minimalist newcomer to Abbot Kinney will open your tastebuds to loving vegan food – especially when you’re eating it on the gorgeous, expansive outdoor patio.
