The next few weeks are proving to be busy – from work deadlines, to final exams, to a sudden influx of holiday invitations – the last thing I want to do is spend hours fussing over my hair. So lately, I’ve been embracing my natural wave, allowing a little autumnal breeze to blow my strands into wind-whipped waves.
Achieving that windswept tousled texture however, calls for a few obliging products to give your locks a helpful hand (especially if like me, your hair is on the dry and frizzy side.) I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite products to help achieve that low maintenance, easy breezy downtown look which will help cut your hair prep time in half. Tousled tresses also happen to be Spring’s hottest hair trend, so it’s never too early to perfect the look.

Helpful Hints to get your best wave:
- Use a deep conditioner like Phillip Kingsely Re-Moisturizing Conditioner. Wrap hair in a warm towel for 10 minutes and rinse.
- When towel drying hair, BLOT curls, don’t RUB. (Rubbing equals flyaways)
- Use a diffuser to help give waves an extra lift. Diffuse until hair is half-dry on a cooler temperature. Air-dry the rest.
- Get a good cut – For shoulder length/ long hair: chop a few short pieces at the front for a little face framing and keep the rest long with thin, tapered ends. For short hair – ask for light layers along the bottom of the hair and side-swept blended bangs.
