I had a beauty wake up call when I turned 29 this year. All of a sudden I came face to face with, well…my face. You see, I’ve been pretty lucky throughout my 20’s (gracias a los genes), to get away with a light layer of Nivea soft as my daily moisturizer. No pricey tonics, lotions or potions in sight. A few fine lines later, and my skin has encountered some late-20’s changes, from a drier complexion to more frequent spots, darker under eyes, and a slightly duller glow. (Merci beaucoup stress, hormones and longer tiring days.)

In the past year I’ve discovered the power of face oils and the benefits they hold. Oils generally contain a higher concentration of essential oils, antioxidants and vitamins, and absorb much quicker into the skin than the average moisturizer. They create a stronger protective barrier against harsh external factors, like pollution and toxins, and at the same time hydrate, balance and calm the skin. And the best part – they soften the appearance of fine lines.

So above are the latest members of my anti-ageing artillery, that are light weight, aromatic and will leave your skin with a brighter more radiant appearance. And yes, I still use my Nivea but now combined with these concentrated concoctions of essential oils, my skin is ready to step into my 30’s with a smile.

(Contrary to belief, oils are good for every skin type and should not cause oily skin to break out. It’s always best to use a small amount to test first.)
